Lambertus Hesselink
Professor of Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics, Stanford University
Professor Hesselink is Professor of Electrical Engineering and Applied
Physics at Stanford University. He was a Fulbright scholar at Caltech, where
he received his PhD degree in 1977 studying with Hans Liepmann. At Caltech
he taught for three years as an instructor in Applied Physics, until his
appointment at Stanford University. At Stanford he pioneered Digital
Holographic Data Storage, and Topological methods for visualization of
tensor and vector fields, among other research accomplishments. His current
research interests include high current nano-photo electron sources< 15 nm
in size, nano-photonics, 3-D phase contrast X-ray imaging and novel high
performance imaging systems. He started two successful spin-off companies,
he has been an expert witness in significant litigation, and he has
consulted widely for the US government and industry. Among other honors, he
is a member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences.
